Happy St. Patrick’s Day To Me—Finally

Glory, Glory, Hallelujah, this is the first year I can remember in a long time that I haven’t been on some weird dietary cleanse, or that I haven’t given up drinking or fun-having for Lent, so needless to say…I’m pretty excited to actually be able to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day today, Southie style, of course. Stay tuned to my Instagram, I’m sure I’ll be photo documenting all the madness that’s about to ensue.

And I actually do have a bit of Irish heritage to celebrate—my mother’s maiden name is O’Connell after all—so I always think about my grandfather today, the one and only, Francis Stevens Joseph O’Connell. If you’re a new reader, I wrote a tribute to him last year (and wrote a a lot about his life this summer when I did my Tuesday’s With Grammy lent). xoxo Grandpa Frank, Happy Paddy’s Day…

And now I’m off—what do you think an appropriate portion of beer is, hmm…

  1. Hope you’ve had a fun day, looks like you did from your Instagram feed. I just wanted you to know that your soda bread was my husband’s favorite part of our St. Patrick’s Day feast. And last year the lime bars were. How are you going to top these treats next March 17? Seriously, thanks for your inspiration and knock back a pint for me.

  2. Pint = Knocked back! Actually…not really. While we did make it out to the parade, the lines into the pubs were miles long so no beer for me. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit disappointed, but it was a fun day nonetheless.

As for the soda bread and lime bars, you must be thinking of another blogger because I can’t recall posting either of those. Sounds delish though, pass the recipes along!

    • Ack! It was another blogger:

Jenna, Danne, they all sound alike, right? I’m so sorry for the confusion. And so sorry you didn’t make it into a bar!
Also, I’m really loving this month’s Lenten exercise. How’s Fanne doing with her portion control? =)
